First Grandchild

LaVerne with her first grandchild, Chase, and her mother, Elsie, in 1971.

Wedding dress

LaVerne, at 19 years old, in her wedding finery. She still fit in her dress at her 50th wedding anniversary, but we couldn't talk her into wearing it because it was old and she always wanted to be up to date and stylish.

Homemaking advice

I always wanted to be more like Mom. This is what I wrote down after asking for her advice about being a better homemaker. It is a list of daily, weekly and monthly tasks. Wish I followed it better.

Always proper

Yesterday, Sherry said someone commented that Mom's Amy Vanderbuilt book (YOU spell etiquette!) was as worn and well-thumbed as a preacher's bible. Mom always did things properly. This is a picture from behind of Mom and Auntie Leona with Uncle Mugsy viewing an Air Force plane. Note the gloves.

So many blessings

Mom didn't suffer, she just went to sleep. She was in Mark and Bev's home with Sherry helping her and Fred and Merrie near. She had Amanda and her children for company and other grandchildren visiting. She knew she was loved and we knew she loved us also. Here are a few of the pictures through her life.
